Abstract

Lady Grace Gethin (née Norton) (1676–1697) was an English essayist, poet, and medical receipt writer. She is best known for her collection of commonplaced essays, Misery’s Virtues Whet-stone. Reliquiæ Gethinianæ. Or Some Remains of the Most Ingenious and Excellent Lady, Grace Lady Gethin. Lately Deceased (1699), a text in which she discusses a wide range of topics ranging from reading practices to the point of pleasure.
