Abstract
This concluding chapter identifies the key opportunities and threats present in the modern mediated LGBT athlete. It outlines three primary trends (coming out earlier in life, out athlete cohorts, and problematic media coverage) that permeate most current issues of out/outed athletes. The chapter then creates a warrant for LGBT media literacy before concluding by articulating robust potential avenues for scholarly investigations triangulating issues of sport, media, and LGBT issues.
