Abstract

As any medical treatment, surgery involves some risk: Complications can occur depending on the patient, pathology, or surgeon involved, and some are unavoidable despite all precautions. Knowledge of these complications is essential for risk-benefit analysis, which should be systematically performed before any surgical procedure. This chapter is devoted to this delicate, but essential, subject. It will help practitioners detect these complications as early as possible and thus limit their effects.
