Abstract
During the Dix-Hallpike test (see Chap. 43), the particles move in the canal and trigger a burst of upbeat-torsional nystagmus. The Epley maneuver causes resolution of positional nystagmus. This maneuver is effective in about 80 % of patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV).
