Abstract
Nutritional support is different in the elderly because of changes in metabolism and tolerance. It is thus a very specialized field. Here we provide the principles of management and translate them into clinical practice to provide the reader with essential guidelines for if, when, and how nutritional support should be given. Special recommendations are given for end-of-life considerations.
