Abdominal Ultrasound for Surgeons

Abstract

Computer-assisted navigation systems have been researched for the past 50 years although they are just beginning to be incorporated into clinical practice. A number of navigation systems utilizing ultrasound will be discussed which incorporate elements of computerized positional tracking into standard ultrasound platforms. This chapter will focus on these different systems, how they work, and how they incorporate ultrasound into their navigation system.
