The Academic Medicine Handbook

Abstract

Evaluating learners and providing them with feedback is a key component of medical education. The academic physician assesses whether the learner has achieved the goals and objectives outlined by a course or by the clinical rotation or experience and uses feedback for improving performance. This chapter focuses on how to assess learners for the purpose of providing feedback and reviews best practices regarding the completion of evaluations.
