Abstract
As a society, this generation more so than any other, has grown accustomed to rapid technological advancement within condensed periods of time. This mentality has escalated to the degree that such advancement is expected in increasing instalments with the passage of time. Nanomedicine is not exempt from this expectation nor has it disappointed thus far as any review of the literature will demonstrate. There is however a significant separation between the hyper-expectation of the research concepts of nanomedicine and the reality of applying such revolutionary techniques and therapies within a clinical setting. This generation, due to the phenomenal pace of research and development, is in the unique position to be permitted to witness both the development of the concept and its assimilation into medicine. In this way, both hyper-expectation and dawning realisation stand side by side to create this unique and highly dynamic time of the implementation of nanomedicine to reality of practiced clinical medicine.
