Practical SPECT/CT in Nuclear Medicine

Abstract

This chapter introduces aspects of facility design that should be considered when planning a new SPECT/CT service. Basic physical requirements of the clinical area are discussed together with the regulatory perspective on radiation protection. Thereafter, radiation protection advice and tips on good facility design will inform the reader of specifics that need to be discussed with their architect and equipment supplier. The assistance and advice of qualified professionals in the field should always be sought, and the purpose of the section is to give background knowledge where it may be helpful to the imaging professional planning a new facility.
