Definition

Regression analysis is a statistical tool used to model the relationship between a dependent variable and one or more independent variables. Specifically, regression analysis describes how the typical value of the dependent variable changes when any one of the independent variables increases or decreases, while holding the other independent variables constant. For example, regression analysis has been utilized to demonstrate that sensory processing dysfunction significantly influences externalizing behavior among preschool-aged children with autism (Tseng, Fu, Lu, & Shieh, 2011).
