Abstract

Dave Wilkinson was a pioneer and leader in the study of the “primeval fireball radiation,” now known as the Cosmic Microwave Background. His contributions include confirmation of the CMB, increasingly precise measurements of its spectrum, and study of the deviations from its near isotropy (Mather et al. 2003; Mather and Peebles 2009). The CMB remains a vibrant and active field of research today and is key to our understanding of the history and large-scale structure of the universe.
