Abstract
The son of Luca Fergola and Candida Starace, Nicola Fergola was a mathematician and professor at the University of Naples (Amodeo 1824; Anon 1830). He wrote many treatises on mathematics and mechanics, including Prelezioni sui Principi matematici della filosofia naturale del cavaliere Isacco Newton (Introduction to Mathematical Principles of the Natural Philosophy of Isaac Newton), in two volumes, the first published in Napoli: Porcelli, 1792 and the second in Napoli: Bisogno, 1793. This work contains an interesting history of Johannes Kepler’s equation (vol. I, pp. 252–254).
