Abstract
Traumatic injury is a leading cause of non-obstetric maternal mortality and cause of fetal demise. Imaging has evolved to play a pivotal role in management of the pregnant trauma patient. In general, a modality that does not use ionizing radiation is preferred for the initial imaging examination. However, inherent limitations of these examinations and the need for prompt diagnosis make computerized tomography the highest yield examination in many cases.
