Abstract
The presence of microorganism with or without associated inflammation in the surgical site leads to wound infection. The isolation of organism helps in the management of the wound, and its susceptibility pattern to antibiotics helps in selecting the most appropriate antibiotic to fasten recovery. Wound infection in plastic surgery patients not only increases the morbidity of the patients and increases the hospital stay but also increases the financial burden to the patient and the health-care provider. Proper knowledge of the wound isolates and their susceptibility pattern in the hospital helps in knowing the resistance pattern to antibiotics and in formulating guidelines for antibiotic administration in an institute.
