Abstract
Dislocation of the knee is rare and usually occurs as a result of high-energy trauma. In obese patients, however, even minor trauma can result in this severe lesion. Damage may not be exclusive to the stabilizing ligaments, neurovascular structures are also at risk. This is of concern regarding the increase in the population of obese patients. Furthermore, operative treatment in these patients is not preferable, due to the high complication rate and the high probability of recurrence.
