« Devenir patient-expert » : action ou fatalité ?

Résumé

Devenir patient-expert c’est tout d’abord avoir une maladie chronique. Toutefois, ce n’est pas suffisant, c’est également avoir suivi une formation à l’éducation thérapeutique du patient et poursuivre le travail avec le diplôme : intégrer une équipe médicale, développer une expérience au sein d’un programme d’éducation thérapeutique dans sa création, sa dispensation, son évaluation et/ou sa coordination. Dans tous les cas, le patient-expert doit savoir se détacher de son histoire personnelle.

Abstract

Becoming a patient-expert first and foremost involves having a chronic illness. However, this is not enough; the patient should also have training in therapeutic education and keep working: to integrate into a medical team, to develop experience in a program of therapeutic education — in its creation, its dispensation, its evaluation and/or its coordination. In any case, the patient-expert must be able to detach himself from his personal history.
