Abstract
The National CAPD Registry routinely collects information on major complications associated with continuous peritoneal dialysis: peritonitis, exit site/tunnel infections and catheter replacements. Complications occurring in Class 1 and Class 2 patients are considered separately as the Registry has no knowledge of the problems experienced by Class 2 patients prior to registration. Note that the available data may overstate the number of episodes experienced by some patients as there are no clear criteria for differentiating between a new, distinct episode and the persistence of a previously reported complication.
