Die therapeutische Apherese umfasst sämtliche extrakorporalen Behandlungsmethoden, bei denen Plasma- oder Zellbestandteile aus dem Blut des Patienten entfernt werden. Neben der Zellseparation (Zytapherese), die hauptsächlich im hämatologisch-onkolo-gischen Bereich eingesetzt wird, sind die Plasmapherese und ihre verwandten Verfahren, Kaskadenfiltration und Immunadsorption, heute ein fester Bestandteil von komplexen Therapiekonzepten in den unterschiedlichsten Fachdisziplinen (⊡ Tabelle 19.1).
