Zusammenfassung

Niere und Herz – in akuter als auch in chronischer Krankheit – stehen in einem engen pathophysiologischen Wechselspiel zueinander, das in den letzten Jahren als kardiorenales Syndrom definiert wurde. Ein zentraler Faktor stellt hier die Aktivierung neurohumoraler Faktoren, eine Flüssigkeitsretention und Ödemneigung dar. Kontrolle des Flüssigkeitshaushaltes insbesondere durch Diuretika ist daher fester Bestandteil der Therapie kardiorenaler Syndrome.
