Zusammenfassung
Die reaktive Arthritis (ReA) ist eine sterile Gelenkentzündung, die sich nach einer primären extraartikulären bakteriellen Infektion entwickelt. Die primäre Infektion betrifft häufig das urogenitale oder das gastrointestinale und seltener das respiratorische System. Die häufigsten ReA-auslösenden Erreger sind Chlamydia trachomatis, die Enterobakterien und Chlamydophila pneumoniae. Entscheidendes Kriterium für die Abgrenzung einer ReA von einer bakteriellen Arhritis ist die fehlende Kultivierbarkeit des auslösenden Erregers aus dem Gelenk. Der frühere Begriff „Reiter Syndrom“, der die Trias Urethritis, Konjunktivitis und reaktive Arthritis beschreibt, ist heute nicht mehr gebräuchlich.
