Zusammenfassung
Die Mitralinsuffizienz ist der zweithäufigste erworbene Herzklappenfehler des Erwachsenen und die häufigste Form der Herzklappeninsuffizienz. Die Mitralklappe erfüllt Ventilfunktion. Sie gewährleistet den Einstrom von Blut aus dem linken Vorhof in die linke Herzkammer während der Diastole und verhindert den Rückfluss in umgekehrter Richtung während der Systole. Eine Mitralklappeninsuffizienz liegt vor, wenn die Schließfähigkeit der Mitralklappe gestört ist und in der Systole Blut vom linken Ventrikel in den linken Vorhof zurückfließt.
