Zusammenfassung

Bei der Hepatitis A handelt es sich um eine infektiöse Entzündung der Leber. Hepatitis A kommt hauptsächlich in tropischen Entwicklungsländern mit reduziertem Hygienestandard vor. Der Verlauf einer HAV-Infektion variiert stark und reicht von asymptomatischen Kontakten mit dem Virus bis hin zu cholestatischer Hepatitis A oder gar akutem Leberversagen. Initial treten häufig unspezifische Symptome wie Schwäche, Übelkeit, Brechreiz oder Fieber auf, erst im weiteren Verlauf kommt es zu Ikterus, Pruritus, dunkel-verfärbtem Urin und entfärbtem Stuhl. Etwa 10 % der Krankheitsfälle nehmen einen biphasischen Verlauf. Zur Diagnosestellung stehen Seroassays zur Testung auf HAV-spezifische Antikörper und PCR-Assays zur Testung auf HAV-RNA zur Verfügung. Es gibt zwar eine Impfung, aber keine etablierte Therapie gegen die Hepatitis A.
