1982 UM. Discovered 1982 Oct. 17 by E. Bowell at Anderson Mesa.
Named in honor of S. J. (“Bobby”) Bus {1956– }, currently a research assistant at Lowell Observatory. Bus has been largely responsible for the successful planning and carrying out of the U.K. Schmidt Telescope/California Institute of Technology Asteroid Survey (UCAS). Observations at Siding Spring and subsequent analysis at Caltech, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Lowell Observatory have led to the establishment of more than a thousand orbits of faint minor planets, almost all of which are potentially recoverable.
