1930 OL. Discovered 1930 July 22 by H. van Gent at Johannesburg.

Named in honor of A. J. Wesselink {1909–1995}, astronomer at the Leiden, Radcliffe and Yale Observatories. From 1946 to 1950 he was Leiden observer at the Union Observatory, Johannesburg. (M 10311) Name proposed by the Leiden Observatory.
