Named in honor of Marshal H. Wrubel, faculty member at Indiana University (1950–68) and university professor of astronomy (1966–68). He was co-founder of the Indiana University Research Computing Center and a pioneer in the use of high speed computers for astrophysical computations, and a brilliant teacher whose profound influence continues to show in the work of his 14 Ph.D. students.
