Isolation and Analysis of Storage Compounds

  • M. Bassas GaliàAffiliated withEnvironmental Microbiology Laboratory, Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research

Some storage compounds such as polyhydroxyalkanates have been drawing considerable attention because of their properties similar to those of conventional plastics. Therefore, many efforts have been done to develop and improve analytical methods to isolate and characterize these biopolymers. This chapter gives easy guidelines in all the steps for recovering and characterizing these compounds.
