Coverage includes molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, metabolism, growth, development and morphogenesis, ecological and environmental physiology, biotechnology, structural biology and plant-microorganism interactions. The journal includes experimental articles and articles serving as the basis for experimental work. Planta's Honorary Editor is Hans Mohr.
