Description

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM), the International Journal of Advances in Engineering Sciences and Applied Mathematics was launched by IITM in collaboration with Springer India. Each issue is dedicated to a specific area of engineering and applied mathematics. The Journal accepts original and review articles that summarize the state of the art and provides a perspective on areas of current research interest.

Special Issue on Multi-terminal Information Theory (Scheduled for March 2013)

Information theory, founded by Shannon in the 1940s, has today grown to be an important part of communication system design. In a point-to-point channel, where a single transmitter attempts to communicate to a single receiver, the fundamental limits on communication rate predicted by information theory can be practically achieved by codes such as turbo and low-density parity-check codes. However, in several wireless communication systems, there are often scenarios where multiple transmitters send information to multiple receivers simultaneously. In such multi-terminal scenarios, fundamental limits and coding schemes are still being actively researched. In this thematic volume, we seek papers that will bring out multi-terminal information theory in the current state of the art.
