Hanson, J.V.M., Ng, MY., Hayward-Koennecke, H.K. et al. A three-year longitudinal study of retinal function and structure in patients with multiple sclerosis. Doc Ophthalmol (2021). https://doi.org/10.1007/s10633-021-09855-7
Patients with worsening disability from MS show prolongation of ERG b-waves associated with retinal bipolar cells. Changes in individual patients over 3 years are likely to be small and the clinical relevance of the association between MS disability and bipolar cell function is of uncertain.
Cvenkel, B., Sustar, M. & Perovšek, D. Monitoring for glaucoma progression with SAP, electroretinography (PERG and PhNR) and OCT. Doc Ophthalmol (2021). https://doi.org/10.1007/s10633-021-09854-8
Functional measures of the inner retina, specifically N95 of the pattern ERG and PhNR of the light-adapted flash ERG, are sensitive for early detection of glaucomatous damage, whereas OCT is more useful for glaucoma monitoring.
