Abstract.

Magneto-optic Kerr effect microscopy on iron single crystals with \( \langle 100 \rangle\) growth direction was performed upon applying a longitudinal magnetic field together with a dc current along the longitudinal direction of the whiskers. The investigations confirm that, apart from the well-known Landau structure and the sheath-core one, surface domain structures magnetized along the direction of the Oersted field induced by the current exist as well. A detailed analysis of the MOKE images indicates that the surface domains have a chiral symmetry.
