Take-home message:

Leptospirosis is a potentially life-threatening bacterial disease associated with a high frequency of severe cases and death despite modern intensive care procedures as found in French Guiana. Acute respiratory failure is more frequent in French Guiana while jaundice and hemorrhage are more frequent in Morocco.
