Easing separation anxiety: Recommendations for parents, families, and teachers

Abstract

Many children entering school for the first time are anxious and fearful. In the beginning, separation from the parent is difficult for all young children but for some, it is a chronic problem that can disrupt the child's learning alliance with the teacher. Finding strategies to deal with these very difficult separation problems helps parent, teacher, and child.
