The clinical significance of asymptomatic bacteriuria

Abstract

Asymptomatic bacteriuria occurs in various diseases and conditions. Although it does not indicate actual pyelonephritis, it is nevertheless an early symptom of pyelonephritis. Once it has been recognized, specific antibacterial therapy should be started, the primary disease should be cured and the patient kept under medical supervision.
