Full-Endoscopic Bilateral Decompression of Central Lumbar Spinal Stenosis with a Unilateral Interlaminar Approach

Abstract

The development of the interlaminar access was a milestone in the history of full-endoscopic spine surgery. In addition to the removal of intraspinal disc herniations, this access for the first time enabled sufficient decompression of a recess stenosis through the use of intra-endoscopic motor-driven drilling systems.

The authors have advanced the interlaminar technique to bilateral decompression with a uniportal approach in central lumbar spinal stenosis. The mastery of this technique is an important requirement in the extension of the treatment options of the thoracic and cervical spine.

This chapter gives an overview of the technical principle of decompression as well as additional information.
