Abstract
Hemodynamic instability is relatively uncommon during the acute phase of Kawasaki disease. This condition is referred to as Kawasaki disease shock syndrome (KDSS), and in this chapter we review the epidemiology, proposed mechanisms, clinical course, and treatment of KDSS. Differential diagnosis of KDSS and toxic shock syndrome is also discussed. The overlap between these two disease entities may provide clues for future studies.
