Muscle and Tendon Injuries

Abstract

Distal biceps tendon pathology is uncommon and can cause weakness of supination and flexion of the elbow. Partial tears are difficult to identify clinically, but MRI can be a useful diagnostic tool. Partial tears can be released and repaired. Complete tears are managed with a surgical repair. Endoscopy can be used to assess, debride and release the tendon tears. Prognosis of surgical management in both acute and chronic injuries of the distal biceps tendon has been positive, with good outcomes shown using both open and endoscopic techniques.
