Abstract
Except for very simple geometric structures, Maxwell’s equations cannot be solved analytically. A variety of methods for the evaluation of electromagnetic fields has been developed over time. In essence, all the methods can be divided into two classes: semi-analytical methods and discretization methods. In the following, we will discuss at least one method from each group and the properties of the related linear systems.
