Abstract
Failed back surgery syndrome is a chronic pain condition unrelieved by or recurring after lumbar spine surgery. Low back pain with or without lower extremity pain is the characteristic feature of the syndrome unrelated to other causes. The condition is debilitating and has significant impact on the patient’s quality of life. We discuss the etiology, typical clinical findings, diagnostic modalities, and multidisciplinary management of failed back surgery syndrome.
