Abstract

The number of RSA (reverse shoulder arthroplasty) implants is greatly increasing, along with the growing age of the population. Consequently, it can be argued that the population we are dealing with will have an increasing number of pathologies that can be considered as comorbidities and must be carefully pondered. Knowledge of comorbidities is therefore useful in assessing the risk/benefit ratio in the treatment of shoulder arthropathy.

For this reason, we believe it is essential to have an accurate preoperative medical history with a careful evaluation of the patient in order to proceed toward the correct decision-making process.

Comorbidity: the simultaneous presence of two chronic diseases or conditions in a patient.
