Abstract

In the objective structured clinical examinations (OSCE), geriatric stations are very important and frequently repeated. I must say, one can expect to have at least one scenario related to the elderly. These are mostly history-taking and counseling stations. This chapter outlines a few common geriatric-related topics important for the OSCE. The geriatric cases are not limited to these topics; they can be from any other system, for example, examining the motor system in a 71-year-old or a 65-year-old patient with a prostate problem.

An overview of the pattern of history taking is given in the start of the chapter, followed by details of a few common scenarios. Many related topics are discussed in various other chapters of this book.
