Abstract

The EXIT (ex utero intrapartum therapy) procedure is a cesarean delivery in which the time from uterine incision to delivery of the fetus is prolonged. The reason for the delay in delivery is that the uteroplacental unit continues to supply oxygen to the fetus while a pediatric surgeon performs a procedure on the fetus, typically one that involves management of the fetal airway [1–3].
