Abstract

Nevus comedonicus is a rare follicular malformation caused by an imperfect development of the folliculo-sebaceous–apocrine units.

Most part of the cases are sporadic and can appear during puberty or be present since birth, but may be also associated with systemic disorders.

Clinically, it presents as asymptomatic multiple lesions with the appearance of comedones of different sizes, usually unilaterally distributed in areas with abundant hair follicles.

Histopathologically, the lesions show multiple malformed and dilated follicular infundibula, filled by a basket-weave orthokeratotic and basophilic keratin.

It is a benign lesion and does not need treatment.
