Abstract
Laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal (TEP) repair of inguinal hernia is commonly performed in cases of bilateral inguinal hernias or in patients with recurrent inguinal hernia after open herniorrhaphy. It should be performed by surgeons experienced in laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair and is often times offered to patients who prefer to undergo laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair. This chapter describes indications, essential steps, variations, and complications of this procedure. It provides a detailed template operative note for the procedure.
