Part of the book series: Encyclopedia of Seas ((EOS))

Barents Sea – a fundamental monograph, prepared during the project “Seas” (Hydrometeorology and Hydrochemistry of Seas) within the Research and Technology Program “The World Ocean” initiated by the State Committee for Science and Technology of the USSR. There were two publications: the first one Hydrometeorological Conditions, prepared by the State Institute of Oceanography and Murmansk Department of the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute (1990) and the second one Hydrochemical Conditions and Oceanological Bases of the Biological Productivity Formation prepared by the State Institute of Oceanography, Murmansk Office for Hydrometeorology, and Knipovich Polar Research Institute of Marine Fisheries and Oceanography (PINRO) (1992). These volumes cover a wide range of issues on meteorology, climate, physical oceanography, water dynamics, hydrochemistry, and oceanological bases of the biological productivity formation in the Barents Sea.
