Abstract
Computer Science, Informatics, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Computational Thinking, Digital Literacy and New Media are just some examples of buzz words which are used and discussed in schools by educators and by political authorities responsible for updating curricula. In many schools informatics is still missing as a basic subject. STEM education still concentrates on teaching science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. In this paper we show that informatics has to become a basic subject in the context of general education in our schools.
