Abstract
Mentoring is a dynamic and reciprocal relationship between the mentor and mentee. While mostly focused on career advancement, it has an enormous impact on personal growth and fulfillment of both individuals. Although the benefits of mentoring are well reported in the literature, many organizations and institutions have yet to implement mentoring programs. In this chapter, the need for mentoring, various styles of mentoring, and tips for becoming an effective mentor and mentee are discussed. A deep understanding of this concept and its effective execution can result not only in personal and professional development but also in increased performance and productivity, job satisfaction and retention, and increased morale, culture, and diversity within any organization.
