Abstract

Healthcare simulation is a dynamic industry. The best simulation programs are routinely evaluated and modified to ensure high-quality simulation activities. This holds true whether the focus of the program is education, assessment, research, or a combination.

In this chapter, a program evaluation model for simulation programs is explored. The importance of context, stakeholders, goals, and objectives is established in a framework for ongoing evaluation. Concrete, real-world examples are used to demonstrate data gathering techniques. Suggested strategies for analysis and program revision are also reviewed. Potential pitfalls and keys to success for program evaluation are presented using this framework.
