Best Practices for Interprofessional Education Debriefing in Medical Simulation

Abstract

This chapter reviews the key features of debriefing within the context of interprofessional medical simulation. We first review the importance of debriefing in light of modern training and learning theories. Following we discuss the structural elements of debriefs including the various roles required for effective debriefing. Finally, we introduce best practices for delivering a debrief including topics to focus on and methods for ensuring learning occurs.
