Abstract
Lateral pelvic lymph node dissection should be in the armamentarium of colorectal surgeons in tertiary referral centers. A minimally invasive approach to this complex procedure requires more advanced knowledge of pelvic anatomy particularly outside of what is needed for total mesorectal excision. Standardization of this procedure may facilitate the dissection technique and provide optimal oncological outcomes.
