Abstract
The rating scale model (Rasch, 1961, 1965, 1967; Andrich, 1978a, 1978b) and the partial credit model (Masters, 1982; Andersen, 1983) arc extended by incorporating linear structures in the item parameters or item x category parameters, respectively, yielding a ‘linear rating scale model’ (LRSM) and a ‘linear partial credit model’ (LPCM). For both models, CML estimation and CLR test methods for assessing the fit and for testing composite hypotheses on change are discussed, and typical repeated measurement designs are considered.
